Translating Local Government Into Plain English

We help residents understand what their city government is deciding in real time, so you can stay informed, speak up when it matters, and participate in the decisions that shape your community.

Important Decisions Are Being Made Without You.

A new development is approved in your neighborhood. Property taxes are going up. A park you love is being renovated. Road construction is starting next week.

You only hear about it after it's already decided, from a neighbor, a Facebook post, or when construction crews show up.
By then, it's too late to speak up.

You deserve to know what's being decided before it's decided.

That's why we built Civic Send.

We stay on top of city meetings so you don't have to. We translate city jargon so you can actually understand it. And we deliver it within 48 hours, while there's still time to speak up if something matters to you.

Why We Exist

Local government affects your life more than you realize, your property taxes, your streets, your parks, your neighborhood development. But staying informed is nearly impossible.

Meetings are hours long. Agendas are written in code. Official records are buried in PDFs that no one has time to read.

We fix that.

Civic Send translates local government decisions into clear, accessible information so you can stay informed without the hassle.

Starting with our pilot city Tamarac, FL, but coming to a city near you.

Built by Someone Who Knows Local Government

I'm Rubi, and I've spent nearly a decade working with local government. I've seen firsthand how hard it is for residents to understand what's being decided in their own communities.

The information exists, t's just buried in bureaucracy and jargon. Our mission at People Politix is to bridge the communication gap so communities everywhere are well informed.

We're committed to creating transparency where there is none. No spin. Just clear, factual information about what your local government is doing so you can stay informed and lend your voice.

Rubi Garcia, MPA
People Politix, Founder

During my time in office, I saw how hard it was for residents to stay informed about city decisions. Email updates were essential to cutting through the noise and creating honest, meaningful connection with constituents. Civic Send gives residents the same kind of clear, regular information that builds trust and helps communities stay engaged.

Why Public Servants Love It

Having spent years working at the intersection of climate, health, and policy, I've seen how crucial information gets lost before it reaches the people who need it most. Civic Send bridges that gap by giving residents clear, consistent, credible information about what their local government is deciding. This is how informed communities are built.

FAQs

Can I unsubscribe anytime?

Yes. Every newsletter has an unsubscribe link at the bottom. One click and you're out.

What exactly is Civic Send?

Civic Send is a newsletter that translates Tamarac City Commission meetings into plain English. After every meeting (usually twice per month), you get a clear, 5-minute summary explaining what passed, what failed, and what it means for you. No jargon, no politics—just the facts.

What's the "founding member" offer?

The first 50 Tamarac residents to sign up get:

  • 7-day free trial (no charge for your first week)
  • Locked-in founding member rate of $8/month after trial (vs. $10/month regular price)
  • Input on what content matters most and how we explain it

After we hit 50 subscribers, the founding member offer closes and new subscribers pay the regular $10/month rate.

Is this Civic Send affiliated with a municipality or local government?

No. Civic Send is an independent service created by People Politix. We're not affiliated or funded by a city. We provide unbiased information about government decisions, we don't work for the government.

Is this political? Will it push an agenda?

No. We report facts: what was on the agenda, what passed, what failed, and what it means for residents. We don't endorse candidates, take political positions, or add opinion or spin. You get objective information so you can form your own opinions and make your own decisions.

How is this different from just reading the city's website or agenda?

City agendas use complicated legal language. Most people can't understand them. City meetings last 3+ hours. It's hard to watch the whole thing. Cities don't post summaries. They only post long recordings.

We watch the meetings for you. We explain what happened in simple words. You get it in your email within 48 hours.

How often will I receive newsletters?

You'll receive one newsletter within 48 hours after each city meeting. Commission meetings typically happen twice per month, so you can expect about 2 newsletters per month. No daily emails, no spam, just meeting summaries.

How do I pay?

We use Substack to manage subscriptions. Substack is a safe and trusted platform.
You can pay with a credit card or debit card. Your 7-day free trial starts right away. You won't be charged until the trial ends.
You pay $8 every month. You can cancel anytime in your account settings.
